An osseointegrated hearing solution is appropriate for an individual who has a conductive, mixed, or single sided deafness hearing loss configuration (issue with the outer and/or middle ear systems). Working via bone conduction principles, the sound processor sends vibrations through the bone, past your damaged outer or middle ear, and directly stimulates the healthy, or healthier, inner ear with sound.
There are a few different options for osseointegrated systems.
Cochlear Americas
- BAHA Connect – surgical option where a titanium screw is imbedded into the skull, allowing for direct bone conduction to both inner ear structures.
- BAHA Attract – surgical option utilizing internal (under the skin) and external (on the sound processor) magnets, allowing for a direct connection to the skull for bone conduction to both inner ear structures.
- Osia – surgical option using piezoelectric stimulation including both internal and external components
- BAHA Softband – headband option allowing for non-surgical bone conduction hearing.
- BAHA SoundArc – silicone/plastic headpiece allowing for non-surgical bone conduction hearing.
Oticon Medical
- Ponto System – surgical option where a titanium screw is imbedded into the skull, allowing for direct bone conduction to both inner ear structures.
- Ponto System with Softband – headband option allowing for non-surgical bone conduction hearing.
Med-El
- ADHEAR – adhesive, non-surgical bone conduction option
